Human Relations Rule #9: Be thoughtful of the opinions of others. There are three sides to a controversy - yours, the other fellow's and the right one.
This is one of my favorite sayings. Because it is so very true. My take on it goes like this: There are three sides to every story - his, hers and the truth. The truth is somewhere in between, always. I'm not always 100% right. He's not always 100% right. But the truth is always 100% right and the truth is always somewhere in between opinions.
In the heat of the moment, sometimes our emotions blind us to reality. Another saying is also very true: Opinions are like behinds, everybody's got one and they all stink. If we can be thoughtful of others' opinions, and not just let fly what's on our tongue at the moment, we would all get along much better.
It is not hard to be mean and just say whatever is on our mind and like I've said before, feelings are fickle and will change. If we can just listen to others' opinions without being critical, we can usually see their point. Sometimes, that point of view can change our opinion of the matter.
